Compositions from Nature Fine Art and Designs

About

“Somewhere between right and wrong, there is a garden. I will meet you there.” – Rumi

Mural Designs founded in 2018 is based in Mumbai and was initially formed to promote unique creations. It has evolved into a fine art and design studio. The studio practice involves explorations in a range of mediums, primarily watercolors, graphite and charcoal. The art depicted is in a combination of styles from realism to impressionism  and extending to abstraction.

The portfolio comprises original landscapes, florals and monochromatic work, each series or collections based on an idea, a mood or a visual experience.  Inspiration for the paintings has been found on travels, walks in the streets and gardens and even in the humdrum of daily life.

The artwork is a result of reinvention and giving way to dormant  creative desires. Mural Designs will continue this creative journey by continuing to explore and bring to you its  visions and ideas.

Art is not what you see, but what you make others see– Edgar Degas

Each artist with his own distinctive vision creates what he / she wants you to see. Through the ages, art has had a profound effect on most people. A work may make you gasp with delight, stare with admiration or even stun you with its naked rawness. An artist has his /her own reasons for the work and the viewer his/her own interpretation. The nuances and subtleties in each sphere of art are so diverse that it is difficult to capture the expanse of this amazing discipline in a few words.

Artists employ different mediums to convey their thoughts and ideas; every artist using a medium that suits his/her style. Oils were always the preferred medium of the Great Artists but over the years the art  world has expanded to new horizons and it is no longer confined to traditional concepts.

    Watercolour

Watercolour refers to the medium as well as the artwork. Essentially watercolour painting refers to use of transparent watercolour or gouache (an opaque form of the same paint). The unique delicacy, spontaneity, freshness and luminosity that you can obtain in watercolours is rarely found in other mediums. Its easy portability and quick-drying qualities are  especially useful to the travelling artist enabling him/her to capture the essence of the moment or scene.

It is one of the oldest mediums (in use since ancient times).  Watercolour painting with inks has been in use in East Asia. It has also been the preferred medium of Botanical artists, with its characteristic transparency and its ability to allow fine detailed illustrations.

Traditionally watercolour paintings did not receive the attention of collectors. Watercolours were generally used by the Great Artists mainly to create preparatory sketches and by students and amateurs.

The three English artists credited with establishing watercolor as an independent, mature painting medium are Paul Sandby (1730-1809), Thomas Girtin (1775-1802), who pioneered watercolor’s use in large format landscape painting, and Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851). Some of their highly talented contemporaries were John Varley, Anthony Copley Fielding and William Havell. The watercolours of Winslow Homer (1836-1910)  have been ranked among the greatest achievements in American  art.
